Art Issues

Sun Nov 2, 2008, 10:44 AM
I really don't like the way my artwork looks. It looks too static and forced, not flowing and natural.

I also wish I could draw more photorealistic. Not because I like it, but so my teachers would quit devaluing my artwork because it's stylized. If I ever needed to show someone exactly what something looked like I could take a picture of it. Don't get me wrong, if you can draw something exactly like it is, that's amazing because I can't do that.

I wish I had more time to practice drawing the things I want to improve on. Instead I'm stuck doing projects for those Ad and Graph classes that take up most of my homework time. I hate Ad and Graph, that's why I picked ILLUSTRATION as my major.

Whatever....

I'm also extremely worried about the economy and whether or not I'll end up living in a box after college.

I don't think it's art if someone copies exactly and photorealistically, a bit pointless. Own styles and stylised is always good and fun!

I'd have to agree. Something I use to become a little more realistic is looking at a few pictures of my subject, doing little scribble copies, and then doing my own in a new pose. It helps me learn how they really look before I try to impose myself on them.

Having something in common with Mahatma Gandhi, Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein, and Sir Isaac Newton, isn't so bad...right?

If you ever have to resort to living in a box you can come live with me instead.
